First-time visitors

What do I need to bring on my first visit?

A government-issued photo ID showing 21 or older, plus cash, PIN debit, or CanPay. We accept driver licenses, passports, military IDs, and state IDs. No appointment, no pre-registration. Just bring your ID and walk in or pull through the drive-thru.

I have never used cannabis before. What should I buy?

Start with a single pre-roll or one gram of flower. With your 35% first-time discount, exploring is inexpensive. Avoid concentrates on day one. Our budtenders will recommend strains based on the effect you want (relaxed, social, focused, sleepy).

How much should I spend on my first visit?

Most first-timers spend $30 to $60 after the 35% discount. That is enough to try a pre-roll plus a low-dose edible four-pack and see how you respond. You can come back any day; we are open 9 AM to 10 PM seven days a week.

Will I look dumb if I do not know what to ask?

No. Tell the budtender it is your first visit. They will ask three or four questions about how you want to feel, your consumption preference, and your prior experience. From there they will match you to the right shelf.

What if I am nervous about walking into a dispensary?

Use the drive-thru. You stay in your car, the window staff handles the transaction, and you never set foot inside until you are ready. Many of our regulars started that way.

Is the drive-thru open the same hours as the store?

Yes. The drive-thru runs the full 9 AM to 10 PM window, every day. Pre-order on the Happy Leaf shop or order at the window.

Can I order at the window without pre-ordering?

Pre-order is strongly recommended; it keeps the lane moving for everyone. If you arrive without an order, the budtender at the window will hand you a tablet to build a cart, but expect a longer wait at peak times.

What payment methods work at the drive-thru?

Cash, debit card with PIN, or CanPay. Credit cards are not available because federal banking rules still restrict cannabis processing. We do not store card data on file.

What ID does the budtender check at the window?

Any government-issued photo ID with your date of birth: NJ driver license or state ID, US passport, US passport card, military ID, or a valid driver license from any other state. NJ residency is not required.

Products and shopping

What products do you carry?

Flower, pre-rolls (singles and multipacks, including infused), vapes (live resin carts, 510s, all-in-ones), edibles (gummies, chocolates, drinks), concentrates (live rosin, badder, sauce), and tinctures or topicals. All products meet NJ-CRC testing standards. Browse the live menu before you arrive.

How much can I buy in a single transaction?

NJ adult-use limits are one ounce of flower, four grams of concentrates, or ten 100 mg edible units per transaction. You cannot combine product types to exceed these caps. Medical patients have higher limits.

Do you carry NJ-grown cannabis?

Yes. Our verified brand mix today includes Raw Garden, RYTHM, Elyon, and Select, plus a curated rotation of additional NJ-licensed cultivators. The mix evolves; the standard does not.

Are there products I should avoid as a first-time user?

Avoid concentrates (60 to 90 percent THC) and high-dose edibles (above 5 mg per piece) until you have a baseline. Most bad first experiences come from taking too much. Start with 2.5 to 5 mg edibles or one pull from a vape and wait.

Discounts and rewards

How do I claim the 35 percent first-time discount?

Mention "first-time visit" at the register or in the drive-thru lane. We mark you in the system the first time, so you cannot stack first-visit savings twice. After that, every other discount you qualify for stays available on future visits.

Can I stack the first-time discount with other tiers?

No. The 35 percent first-time discount cannot be combined with veteran, senior, student, medical, industry, or birthday tiers on the same transaction. After your first visit, those tiers stack with the loyalty program.

How does the loyalty program work?

You earn one point per dollar spent. One hundred points equals five dollars off, with no expiration. Loyalty points stack on every other discount tier including birthday and senior.

NJ cannabis law

Is recreational cannabis legal in New Jersey?

Yes. Adult-use cannabis has been legal in NJ for adults 21 or older since 2022. The NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission licenses and regulates every retail dispensary, including Happy Leaf.

Can I bring NJ cannabis across state lines?

No. Federal law still classifies cannabis as a Schedule I substance. Crossing into Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, or any other state with NJ-purchased cannabis is a federal offense, even if the destination state also has legal adult-use.

Where can I legally consume cannabis I purchase?

Only in a private residence with the owner's permission. Public consumption (parks, sidewalks, vehicles, workplaces) is illegal in NJ. Driving under the influence carries DUI consequences identical to alcohol.
